January 2017 Employment Specialist Training
The Employment Specialist training is based on the Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) competencies. These are evidence-based competencies that an Employment Specialist should possess to perform quality supported employment services. The training includes pre and post assessments, 7 days of classroom instruction, structured performance employment activities (field work), onsite mentorship and supervision, along with ongoing monitoring of each Employment Specialist’s benchmarks such as number of contacts with employers, number of completed job seeker interviews, strategies used to negotiate job seeker’s characteristics, number of hours spent in “active” job development activities, etc. in order to improve the practical application of knowledge acquired within the training components. Classes begin on January 4th and will continue on the 11th, 18th, 25th, February 1st, 8th and 15th - seven consecutive Wednesdays.
