Equity-Focused Education: An Awareness Perspective
Equity-focused education begins with how we think about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the context of our own life experiences and the life experiences of our students. Classrooms today are filled with more diverse student learners than ever before. Culturally responsive educational professionals emphasize the importance of school culture, structuring classroom environments and creating lessons that honor, and reflect the individual and cultural experiences of all students.
Join us as training participants learn the dimensions of equity-focused education by exploring three key areas in equity-focused education; multicultural education, social justice education and culturally responsive teaching. Participants will acquire practical strategies that have the potential to create safe spaces in our schools and begin the work of honoring the contributions of all students from a lens of equity, diversity and inclusion.
