Do I Tell My Boss? Disclosure in the Workplace
Disclosure of any kind is a personal choice. Whether or not to disclosure personal information about one's self is an important and potentially stressful decision. Decisions about disclosure and the responses of supervisors and coworkers to this information can significantly influence employees' workplace experiences. Concerns about possible mistreatment in the workplace is a primary reason why individuals are reluctant to disclose.
Training participants will explore if, when how, how much and with whom to disclose personal information. Types of disclosure as it relates to the need for a reasonable accommodation, pros and cons that pertain to one's disability, medical condition, race, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation and other categories that are listed as a protected class under federal law, will also be discussed.
