Rhode Island to Participate in National Core Indicators Project!
Rhode Island’s Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities & Hospitals (BHDDH) recently joined a national effort with nearly all states to participate in National Core Indicators (NCI). NCI is a voluntary effort for public developmental disabilities agencies to measure and track their own performance. The NCI survey is an organized way of asking individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities how satisfied they are with the services they receive.
The Core Indicators are a set of performance measures that emphasize the outcomes that people with disabilities within the service system wish to attain, and demonstrate the performance of a state to deliver those outcomes. The data that results from the survey provides a great deal of specific information that can be used to monitor the service delivery system, make policy decisions, allocate resources, and aid in developing plans to improve the quality of life for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
The Center for Excellence & Advocacy will manage the day-to-day activities of the NCI project, which also includes the administration of approximately 400 face-to-face interviews with adult individuals who receive services.
