On August 8th, 2014 the CEA held their first Connect2Careers™ event with great success! Thirty business professionals and nearly 90 individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities from across the state were brought together to discuss and discover what the world of work has to offer. BHDDH Director, Craig Stenning, kicked off the event with welcoming words of inspiration: "This event is another important step in achieving our Department's goal to provide every opportunity for BHDDH participants to learn about, seek and obtain competitive employment.  Employment is part of an individual's full integration into society.  It fosters a level of independence and provides a sense of accomplishment."

Based on results of surveys from both the participants and business representatives, Connect2Careers™ proved to be a positive experience for all.  A common thread throughout the participant's response was the excitement of getting to ask business professionals questions and seeing the vast opportunities that exist in the job market. The participants received certificates of achievement and certainly walked away with a great experience!

The business representatives shared the event was exceptionally encouraging, rewarding, and overall a great concept. Connect2Careers™ allowed for partnerships to be made with various businesses across the state. The CEA would like to thank everyone who attended, without you it would not have been a success.  We will be offering this opportunity again in February and hope you will once again consider joining us! Take a look at some of the pictures from the CEA 2014 Connect2Careers™ below!
