On February 27th, 2015 the CEA held their second Connect2Careers™ with tremendous success!  Over 90 individuals with disabilities from 19 different entities across the state had first hand experience exploring occupations of interest.  Over 28 employers representing a wide range of industries, including Lowe’s, Shaw’s Supermarket, Sam’s Club, Newport Marriot, and Providence Police were in attendance.  Individuals were given the opportunity to practice their informational interviewing and enhance self-marketing skills. 

Based on feedback from both the participants and business representatives, Connect2Careers™ proved to be a rewarding experience for all.  A common thread throughout the participant’s response was the enthusiasm around getting to introduce oneself and present their skills to business professionals. Those who attended received certificates of achievement and walked away with a new professional experience!

The business representatives shared the event was engaging, gratifying, and overall a great concept. Business representatives enjoyed connecting with the participants and stated it was an informative experience, as they learned about job seekers and their potential.  Connect2Careers™ allowed for partnerships to be made with various businesses across the state.
