Creating Gender Inclusive Schools

Training type: Community Based Training
Training topic: Professional Development
Date and time: Fri, 05/15/2020 - 9:00am to 11:30am
Location: 200 Metro Center Blvd. Unit #5 Warwick, RI 02886

Public schools in the United States are serving a more heterogenous student population now more than ever before. As educators, one has the ability to create gender-expansive environments that affirm all children by reducing gender role stereotyping and allowing them to freely express their gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation, and find confidence in their strengths as a whole person. Learners will explore their own personal and professional gender journey and discuss how they can begin to create safe spaces in schools that are necessary for thoughtful discussion and meaningful reflection about gender. In addition, this training will introduce school-based approaches that have the potential to create a foundation for gender inclusive practices.
